June Stamp of the Month Blog Hop- A Bushel and a Peck

Hello and Welcome to this month's Stamp Of the Month Blog Hop. If you are arriving here from Gina's Blog, then you are in the right place! We have fabulous creations from 20 consultants to show you this month's featured stamp set: A Bushel and a Peck. As per normal, if you see something you like, please comment, and then contact your Close to My Heart Consultant to hook you up with that product! If you spend over $50 Canadian, this little cutie can be yours for just $6!!!

So now to get down to my creation. I did a fancy fold step card with a template I found on Pinterest.

I used our Shin-Han Markers to colour the girl and fruit, then fussy cut things out. I used some scraps from the Central Park Paper packet as I loved the colours.

Laying down flat, it does fit in a standard 4.25 by 5.5 inch envelop too!!!

When standing there are some bonus folds I decorated up for a little oomph  (Wowza, spell check did not like my initial go at that one!).

Now from the side, you can really see the folds.

From here, you are going to run off to check out the lovely Krista Hershberger! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have an awesome June. Don't forget your sunscreen.

I am loving the new SE2 papers, and the Documented line really seemed fit well with these pictures of my family checking out the "Gospel Brunch" at the Trailside Cafe in PEI. I liked the doors, bricks and muted flower colours really complemented the decor, and highlighted some of the colours in the artwork. All the bling and the wooden "smile" are from the Documented Workshop on the Go, although the New England Ivy Cardstock is from the Cardstock Compliments for the line. The layout itself is from Make it From Your Heart Volume 2.

Slightly crooked pages together. Notice how I took pictures of the outside sign and chalkboard to remind me where we were.

April Stamp of the Month "Colour Your Life" Blog Hop

Hi everyone. This is my first time joining the stamp of the month blog hop, and I managed to somehow delete the post I had ready to go up. This will be the abridged version! You should be joining me from Gina Brandstetter's blog so hopefully you are in the right place.

I am working on an album for an old friend who is getting ready to have her first baby. I thought the "Celebrate Life" stamp would make a lovely title page for that. I have combined it with the Whimsy Fundamentals and Cardstock, with some cricut cuts from both the Artbooking (border) and Flower Market (Wreath) cartridges. I thought that the triple stamping look of the flowers from "Beautiful You" would really add to that wreath, and to add an extra bit, some use 3d Dots, and have some of the shimmer brushed glitter on them.

From here you are heading over to check out what Michelle Johns has created for us. Enjoy the hop, and thank you for stopping by!

I am not mentally ready for spring yet, even though for the most part the weather here in Halifax has been lovely. I thought today I would show you a card I made for a baby shower, since spring= new beginnings to me. This hop has also reminded my I REALLY need to get my seeds for the garden started or we will have another summer of sad tiny peppers.

As you may have realized from previous hops, I am a little weird and not super traditional. I had this idea in my head that we had a stamp set that doesn't totally exist, so I sort of made something close to it instead of risking something crazy like hand lettering, or trying to do the whole thing in letter stamps. (That is a terrible sentence, apologies grammar nerds). I used some of the paper bits I had left over on my desk from the "Make Waves" paper packet, the heart dies that I showed last month, and the stamp out of the "Something Magical" Card kit. I then cut the word "creating" out of  "Creating To Create" and sort of jammed it in. Probably not my best work, but it will make my friend laugh at least. I cut the sentiment out with our old scallop circle punch (I thought it was still a thing... sorry). I then coloured a few words to highlight them with the alcohol markers and I used the clear shimmer brush on 'magical'. I added the shimmer trims that match Make waves, and stamped the pretty filigree border in between. It is also from the Something Magical card kit set.

Thank you for hopping by, I hope my card at least makes you giggle a little. Up next for the Cross Canada Hop you are going to head over to Ontario to check out Brae's Creation and I am sure she has something lovely and sensible for you to look at.

I am not super into Valentines Day, but I am in to puns, so when I saw the "We Belong Together" Stamp set I was inspired. I will be totally honest, this was a 10 card set with 2 of each design. As you can see there are only 4 cards pictured. My desk ate 1 of the designs, and I only had time for a cursory clean. All of the card patterns are out of the new "Make it From Your Heart Volume 4" Card map idea book and use Enchantment Fundamentals and cardstock. Images were stamped in Memento Black in, then coloured with our Shin-Han Alcohol Markers. I added a little water colouring around the bees because I found the marker very harsh. The hearts are the "Basic Heart" dies, with a little bit of shimmer trim.

We have been having pretty mild weather here in Atlantic Canada so far... I am ready for spring and summer. I am definitely a water girl, so I had to show everyone some cards I made with the new "Making Waves" Collection. There will definitely be a TON of layouts done with this very soon, but the flu has been kicking my butt for like 2 weeks so this is all I have done with it so far. The highlight of the collection is the stunning mermaids, but I wanted to showcase the punny cardmaking set with thin cuts. Where I haven't really felt up to scrapping, I wanted to create some backgrounds to start, so I cut up some water colour paper, and used the wide water colour brush to make some waves on 2 of them. For the whale card, I wanted a little more blending, so I dripped the water colour paints from the water brush onto the all purpose mat and then smooshed the paper into it. Then I hit them with a heat gun to dry them up. Since this tends to make the paper bend, I stuck them under my cutting mat while I did the next few steps.

I cut out some of the adorable die cuts out of white daisy cardstock, and stamped them up. With the octopus I first inked up with Pansy, then ran the outside through Eggplant (Rock n Roll technique). The whale is black, and the crabs are Sorbet. Each water colour background is backed with Peacock Cardstock (remember that cardstock is now 2-toned, so you get different looks).

The whale card simply uses a zip strip and some of the new Make Waves shimmer trim, with the adorable new Make Waves bling. This has these cute little shaped sequins on it. I then added some shimmer brush on the blowhole spray, and it did go on a little heavy, but mistakes happen.

Here I added the backside of some Lemon Cardstock (leftover from the December Calendar special), more shimmer trim, and another zip strip.

I bent the sentiment on the block to give it some shape, and coloured the heart under the octopus with my Shin Han Markers.

I hope that I have made you want to look at this line, these cards would be great to make with your leftovers!
